Shepherds

29 Apr

Read Zech 11 about the prophecy of the Shepherds.. “ For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces. Woe to the worthless shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm and against his right eye. His arm shall completely wither, And his right eye shall be totally blinded.

The Lord reminded me to be a responsible, discerning and wise shepherd to care and love our sheep especially those who have strayed away or those who may not be in the vision yet. As we desire the position of an overseer in 1 Tim 3:1, we desire a good work. We must be blameless… sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to much wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous, one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence … , not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he falls into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover, he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Thank God that He gives us very pragmatic training as we allow Him to disciple us to disciple others!
